Central Heating Systems

Central heating is an important part of your home, providing you with heat and hot water from one central source. At Viessmann, we have a range of central heating systems available. Here, we provide you with information about the different types of central heating boilers we offer.

What types of central heating fuels do Viessmann offer?

At Viessmann, we offer a wide variety of fuel options including renewable fuel technologies. Our central heating boilers can be powered by a range of fuels, including:

  • Natural gas
  • Liquid petroleum gas (LPG)
  • Fuel oil
  • Bio oil
  • Ground source heat pumps
  • Air source heat pumps
  • They can also be combined with solar energy systems.

How does central heating work?

The most common form of central heating system we offer and the most common form of central heating in the UK is a “wet system”. Wet central heating systems work by utilising hot water that circulates through the pipes in your home. This water is pumped to your radiators, after being heated by the boiler at the centre of the heating system. The boiler within your system generates heat after burning fuel such as gas, oil or biomass, or obtaining fuel from another source such as solar energy, or heat from the air or the ground.

Radiators work by utilising the process of convection. This means that the air from the water contained within the radiator naturally rises and the cool air falls, as a result warm air is circulated around the room in which the radiator is installed.
